Bikes!

Crew loves bikes. No matter how mad, sad, or tired Crew is all you have to say is "Crew, do you want to see some bikes?" The response is always "YEA!" Do you want to know whats better than "seeing bikes" for Crew? Its fixing bikes! Checkout these pictures. Crew gets so intense around tools. I wonder where he gets it from?

I have been riding my bike everyday to work... I am hooked. There is nothing like getting two workouts everyday during the commute. I never seem to have time to get to the gym so riding my bike to work seems to be the solution for daily exercise. In the next few days we are going to get a trailer for the bikes so Crew can join in on the fun. Once we do that I think the Car will only be used on the weekends for day vacations and going to church.

Little Brother #2

We have been extremely fortunate to have Caleb stay with us for the entire week. We would have to say that it gets kind of lonely out here in California with no family. Anyways Caleb is my second little brother. My first little brother is Andrew. Caleb and I have always had fun together going back many years when Rachel and I were dating and he spiked a football at my groin. Caleb leaves today and we are going to miss him. I can't believe that Andrew and Caleb are now graduated from High School and moving on to missions and college.

Saturday we went to the beach. The surf was crazy. 5 to 6 foot waves every 15 seconds. It got to the point that we just put the surf boards on the beach and found other uses for them besides riding them.

Crew enjoyed playing football, paddel ball, and of course playing with his trucks in the sand.

Pictures are great but they come with no volume... I am going to narrate the following sequence of pictures.

Caleb: For the love, these waves are huge!
Devin: Neptune, the god of the sea, is angry.

Devin: Dude
Caleb: Dude

Devin: Wait for it...
Caleb: Now!

Caleb: I slipped!
Devin: haha... (underwater noises)

The other nice thing about having Caleb around for the week is that we had someone there to take pictures, watch Crew, and provide good conversation.

How do you guys like Crew's new Hat and board shorts?

MUD RUN

Part of my family came down from Idaho and we spent the weekend in San Diego to participate in the Camp Pendleton Mud Run. It was a great change of pace from the other 10K's. Throughout this course there were mud walls we had to climb over, a tire obstacle, river cross (you had to swim across), mud hill climb, tunnel crawl and a mud pit you had to cross on your stomach. Unfortunately we could only capture the beginning and the end of the run.

You could compete as an individual or as a 5 man team. This was our team, the Muddy Spuds.

Crew was so happy to have his family around. Jason was the babysitter while we ran.

The guy out of the mud flying through the air is Devin trying to take me down. I high stepped his arm tackle!

Who Needs a Bed

Normally I will rock Crew to sleep and Devin will lay next to us on the floor. For some reason Devin went into the hallway to lay down and Crew followed. Within 10 seconds they were both asleep.

Hair Stylist for a day!

It was one of those moments when your child has been too quiet for too long. They have either fallen asleep on their bedroom floor all on their own, a rare occasion around here. Or they are doing something they shouldn't be. Which you can tell from that mischievous smile, is the case here.

Crew loves getting into the toothpaste, hair products, lotion, shampoo bottles etc. Pretty much anything he isn't allowed to have on his own. Pictured, is him with his dads hair gel. Don't ask me how his prying little hands got a hold of it. By the time I was able to intervene he had emptied the entire container.

Affordable transportation

Gas prices in SoCal are currently $4.50 per gallon and higher depending on the city. I live 8 miles from work. Roundtrip equals 16 miles. Rachel taking me to work so she can have the car would equal two round trips per day totaling at least 32 miles per day. Our awesome Outback averages 26 mpg. For Rachel to take me to work everyday would roughly cost at least $110.77 per month. My solution for affordable transportation... Ride my bike to work. Introducing the newest member of the Belnap Family...

The Specialized Langster, London edition (bike will pay for itself in at least 6 months).

The key to success for riding your bike to work is riding a bike you love and that is crazy fast!

South Laguna

This is our favorite beach to date. We found it driving along Pacific Coast Highway. Isn't the view beautiful?
