Busy Bodies

Devin had an interview in Provo last week. We were able to stay with his aunt and uncle, Jay and Laurel. This is one of four of their darling kids, Maylin.

Crew loved having a partner in crime.

Sporting my rain boots. She loves shoes. And this girl has incredible balance. She would step out of those boots by herself. Leaving one foot on the ground and lifting the other up and over the tall thing while holding onto nothing.

Thanks again for letting us crash at your home.

Remembering President Hinckley

President Gordon B. Hinckley passed away tonight. He has been a wonderful leader and example for Devin and I. His teachings will be missed. Here are just a few of his wonderful accomplishments as President.

Hinckley might be best known for his aggressive attitude in building LDS temples around the world. As of Jan. 2008, 124 LDS temples were operating worldwide -- with several others either planned or under construction. Prior to Hinckley's presidency, there were less than 50 world temples.

He is the first Church President ever to travel to Spain, where in 1996 he broke ground for a temple in Madrid, and to Africa, where he met with thousands of Latter-day Saints in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

He has given numerous interviews to major news media, including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and the CBS 60 Minutes television news magazine, which featured him and the Church in 1996 on an Easter Sunday show seen by more than 20 million. In September of 1998 he was the guest on the popular CNN cable television program Larry King Live.

At age 96, Hinckley became the oldest president in LDS Church history.

He passed away at age 97, at his apartment in downtown Salt Lake City at 7pm Sunday Night from causes incident to age. Members of his family were at his bedside.

Passing it down!

After Crew was born Devin decided he wanted his first born to enjoy his blanket like he did. Yep, this was Devin's baby blanket that his mother made and it is now Crew's. We have a routine for Crew when we put him down for bed. First, we enter the room he sleeps in and that is the only thing that we do in that room. It is really one of his Grandmas guest rooms. So he knows when we go in there it is to sleep. He'll snuggle up to me or Dev, we'll sing a few songs, have family prayers, then it's into the crib where he rolls over onto his stomach, tucking his legs under him he holds his arms out waiting for the blanket to be placed over his back, once it is he grips the edges with his little hands and tucks it under his body. It really is one of the cutest things. It makes his dad so proud to see that he loves it almost as much as him.

Winter Blues

If Crew could be hauled around all day, whether it be on his bus, the cart, the shovel, his dump truck or my back. He'd be the happiest kid in Idaho. We've been so couped up lately due to the weather I had to take him out today for just a minute to enjoy the sunshine.

Random Thoughts

Belnap 2008
It's been awhile since I have published anything on the blog. Has anyone stayed up with the recent state Primaries and Caucuses? I am hooked. For some reason I have turn into a talk radio politico junky! I don't know why? I am guessing it is because I am strongly in support of a particular presidential candidate. I really want the following candidates to win the GOP nomination... Romney,  Guliani, or Thompson. I think Huckleberry is an idiot and is silently dishonest. McCain would be okay but he is too old and ugly to win a presidential election. I am not being the judgmental individual. The American people have already spoken on a similar decision. Do you remember what happen to Bob Dole? haha. If Jon McCain wins the nomination that will guarantee a Democrat President. Which will ensure a bankrupt government. I know that the GOP is guilty of the recent spending and debt but a national health care plan will break the bank... We simply can't even afford the current program nor the Bush prescription drug act which added trillions dollar to what we already couldn't afford. I didn't get this idea from a republican I heard it from David Walker the comptroller of the United States of America. I think he keeps the financial books for the government.

Cheese Anyone?
I haven't really watched a NFL football game this year... The reason is I have no time. I did tune in just in time to watch Brett Farve throw the game away. I really wanted the Packers to get back to Super Bowl for Brett's sake. I just I hope he can either live with that last throw the rest of his life, or play another season and try to ensure a better ending note than a interception that leads to your loss in OT.

Seniors

School is going great. Rendering and Perspective seems to be one of my most fulfilling courses this semester. I am looking forward to graduation this spring. Right now I am buried in assignments and chapters of material that needs to read. However knowing that the end is near makes me just a little bit sad. Only because I will no longer be a student who can make mistakes now I must be professional.

LEO the LION

Crew loves his lion. But not as much as he loves falling off of it.

First he'll flirt with the edge a bit.

Waits for a reaction from me.

Then dives right into the ground. Some times taking the lion with him. My baby is turning into a gutsy little boy. I'm not sure I'm ready for it.

Monkey Business

I know it doesn't show, but Crew has become a very picky eater. Bananas are the one thing that he has continued to eat over the last few months without deciding he hates them. He even has a daily banana routine- He'll come up the stair run over to the pantry and grab the bundle of bananas. Hand them to whoever he thinks might give him one and he'll do this over and over again until he finally gets one. He gets to hold it all by himself. I think thats why he likes them so much. It's one of my favorite things to watch him do.

I'm so glad when daddy comes home...

As I stated in the previous post, Crews favorite time of day is when dad comes home from work or school. The second I tell him, "Daddy is coming home" he shakes his body with excitement, runs over to the window to watch for him and we sing his favorite song, When daddy comes home. Thanks babe for being such a wonderful father. We Love You!

SNAKES, SNAILS & PUPPY DOG TAILS

I should have known this face had TROUBLE written all over it. My little Crew isn't acting so little anymore. I'm trying to teach him how to feed himself with silverware. He must forget he's hungry cause the second the spoon is in his hand all he does is play with his food. He has to see how everything responds to either being shaken, pulled, or hit. He's beginning to understand a lot of what goes on. So we've decided to start him on time outs. It's only day 2 and it seems to be working okay. I know they need to be able to explore and learn on their own, so where do I draw the line. Advise or tips anyone?

Da Bears!

Devin Grant Belnap and Crew Grant Belnap, thats not the only similarity this father son pair have. Devin's mom bought this outfit for him when he was 4. We pulled it out of the storage room and let Crew run around in it for a little while. Despite the unhappy look on his face, he really is beginning to love football. He loves to throw and kick the football. He runs everywhere he goes, and he's fast, and the other day he even said "football". Such a thrill for his dad.

Say Cheese!

Other than our wedding, Dev and I haven't had very many pictures taken with each other. So I pulled out our new camera with the hopes that we'd snap a couple of keepers. Ya right! After about 8 shots we gave up. I still don't have a picture of us worthy of framing.

During the Break

Since I start school next week I thought I would talk about what we have been doing during the break.

Family: We have almost seen all of Rachel's Brothers and Sisters. My brothers and sisters seem to have disappeared this holiday season... However Trent has kept things fun.

Football: We went to Las Vegas and enjoyed the nail bitting BYU vs UCLA bowl game. The rest of the bowl season has been quite the disappointment. The BCS games have been less than exciting.

Politics: Talked a lot about politics. I was hoping Mitt Romney would have been victorious in the Iowa caucus. Mike Huckabee is a joke.

Christmas: Spent the day with family. It was really fun and relaxing

New Year: Always a let down. For some reason I always think some big fun and exciting party is going to take place. That never seems to materialize.

Work: I have worked way too much during this break. I am excited to focus on my studies starting next week.

Crew: He has been all over the place. If you haven't seem him recently you would believe who fast he can move now.

Blog: Rachel has turned into the webmaster for Belnap Barnyard. The face lift is a little too girly for me. However it does look nice. Way to go Rachel! You have learned how to work html code faster than I could have ever imagined.
