Growing up WAY to Fast!

Monday, May 17, 2010

My mommy shin guards are up.

The bad thing about city sports is that all the coaches are volunteers. Sure they know the basics, the forms and techniques. They can run the drills. But unfortunately for Crew he was given a coach who has no idea how to manage a team or how to motivate the team to play their best. Basically, they aren't allowed to act like 3 year olds. Thank goodness Devin can be on hand to help keep things positive. And that is the only reason I allow Crew to continue on the team. And Crew rocks at playing soccer.

What would we do without Grandparents?

Crew would have to put the balls on the T himself.
He wouldn't have water balloons or water guns.
Crew would have no one to catch lizards with.
There would be no one to share treats with at the movies.
Crew and Finley would have missed out on long walks and runs along the beach.
There would be no one to sit in the back seat with Crew and have sing-alongs.
There would be no one to take over so I could have a moment of sanity.

Thank heaven for Grandparents cause I don't know what we would do without them.

Bald heads like these need Accessories!

After 6 months of procrastinating and with a little push and shove from Eliza we broke down and did it. We decided that inflicting pain upon our girls was worth the beauty. Aren't we sick? We pierced their ears! Thank goodness the precious things are so quick to forgive and forget.

12 People, 200 Miles, 24 hours

I joined a group of friends to run what is called a Ragnar Relay. Each team has two vans, with six people in each van. All team members run three different legs. The first van starts and each runner will run their first leg. When the first van is done, the second van goes. The leapfrogging pattern continues throughout the race.
My first run was at noon around Malibu. One of the prettiest parts of California I've seen. Lots of vineyard and strawberry fields. Big green rolling hills. That was my longest leg at 10 miles. My second run took place at 1 o'clock in the morning. I ran out of downtown L.A. to the Santa Monica Pier. 5 mile run. My third run was at 9 a.m. along the PCH. Right along the beach. So refreshing and beautiful. That one was 7 miles. I ran 22 miles total and our team finished in 31 hours. We placed 120 out of 300 teams.

Here we are attempting to sleep. There is so much energy and excitement it is hard to rest. The only sleep we got was a couple of hours that night after my midnight run.

I had so much fun doing this that I am pulling a team together to run one in October.
